Set of circulating coins 2026 Football World Cup stand

The traditional circulation coin set from the Czech Mint and the Czech National Bank, featuring a sports theme, is dedicated to the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

The 23rd FIFA World Cup, held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, brought several innovations. It was the first time that the most-watched soccer event on the planet was hosted by three countries. The sporting elite competed in eleven stadiums in the United States, three stadiums in Mexico, and two stadiums in Canada. For the first time, 48 national teams participated in the tournament—a full 16 more than in previous championships. The teams were divided into twelve groups of four and played 104 matches over the course of 39 days.

The set contains six circulation coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 CZK, which were minted in 2026 and have never entered circulation. Another piece of the puzzle is a special commemorative token by medalist Ondřej Pospíchal. The colored obverse of the token features three soccer players, whose colors symbolize Mexico, the United States, and Canada. “The combined silhouette in the background behind the players represents the three cities where the tournament’s largest stadiums are located. Behind the green figure you’ll find Mexico City, behind the blue East Rutherford, and behind the red Vancouver,” explains the young artist, who created the token as part of his final project at the Jablonec College of Applied Sciences. The reverse side of the token features a map of North America with the stadiums Estadio Azteca, MetLife Stadium, and BC Place Stadium marked. All of this is stored in themed packaging.
