The Czech Mint in cooperation with the Czech National Bank regularly issues various sets of circulation coins. In 2025, for the first time, a set with a wedding motif is being released, which is an original gift for anyone who is expecting a merrymaking, not only for avid numismatists.

Coins have always been a symbol of wealth, prosperity and security. It is therefore no wonder that they played an important role in the wedding rituals of our ancestors. The oldest coins found on Czech territory are gold staters, popularly known as irises, used by the Celts. Unlike their Roman contemporaries, Celtic women had almost equal status with their men and the wedding coin was meant to symbolise the couple's willingness to share everything they had in the world. In many countries around the world, the penny is still a wish for happiness and best wishes to both newlyweds. You've probably heard that a bride should carry something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue on her big day. However, this tradition, which is based on an old English nursery rhyme, has a fifth part that is forgotten - the penny that the bride is supposed to put in her slipper to bring happiness, wealth and prosperity to her new family.

Not only the bride's slipper, but also the wedding rings and other necessary parts of the wedding wardrobe can be found in the relief of the wedding token, created by medal maker Lucie Kroupová. The set of circulation coins naturally includes all valid metal coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK and the year 2025, issued by the Czech National Bank and produced by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou. Six of the coins did not circulate.

The complete set is placed in a gift box where a heartfelt dedication can be written.
