Product description
The Czech Mint in cooperation with the Czech National Bank regularly issues various sets of circulation coins. In 2024, it is the first time that a set with a birthday motif has been issued , which represents an original gift for anyone who is about to celebrate, not only for avid numismatists.
The ancient Romans marked the anniversary of their arrival into the world with exuberant celebrations brimming with good food and drink. Historical religions that have endured to this day, however, viewed birthdays differently - while Judaism did not attach importance to them, Christianity and Islam considered birthday celebrations outright sin. And such Hindus saw the moment of their death as far more important. In the Middle Ages, name days played a dominant role and birth anniversaries were reserved only for the wealthy nobility. Fortunately, times are changing and mindsets and manners are gradually evolving. But they may just be returning to their roots - for today's birthday celebrations are closest to those of the Romans. There are plenty of goodies to be had, including cake, a toast with something spicy and, of course, gifts of all kinds.
The set of circulation coins includes all valid metal coins with the nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK and the year 2024, issued by the Czech National Bank and produced by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou. The six coins that did not circulate are complemented by a commemorative birthday token.
The complete set is placed in a gift box.
