Product description

The three-piece set of replica silver guilders minted by the Slovak Kremnica Mint commemorates the reign of Franz Joseph I between 1880 and 1890.

The characteristic face of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria still stares back at us from a plethora of historical coins. They are very diverse because they were issued over a vast territory for many years - the Habsburg Empire, where the coins circulated, had several monetary systems and Franz Joseph I ruled for 68 years. Payment was in crowns, kreuzers, thalers and guilders which were also known as forints, florins or gold pieces (although they were silver). In the mid-19th century, workers or teachers earned 150 guilders a year. The annual salary of senior officials was up to 700 gold pieces.

The commemorative set consists of replicas of three guilders from the years 1880, 1882 and 1890, which were made by the Slovak medal maker Mgr. Art. Roman Lugár. In the relief of each mintage you will find a portrait of Franz Joseph I in profile and Austro-Hungarian heraldry.

The set of three coins, which follows the previous successful issue, is stored in an elegant wooden case. It is a limited numbered edition of only 300 pieces.
