Silver 200-crown coin Opening of the Municipal House in Prague proof

Silver 200-crown coin commemorating 100th anniversary of the opening of the Municipal House in Prague is the fifth and last of 200-crown coins issued by the Czech National Bank in 2012. The design of the coin resulted from a country-wide anonymous contest organized by the Czech National Bank. The winning design was created by Majka Wichnerová.
Coins for CNB are struck by Czech Mint of 0.925 fine silver in standard and proof qualities differing in the surface finish and the edge. Proof coins have highly polished field, matted relief and the edge is smooth, while the edge of standard quality coins is reeded. The diameter of the coin is 31 mm, it weighs 13 g and is 2.35 mm thick.
The Municipal House is one of the most prominent Baroque revival buildings in Prague with neo-Renaissance features and Art Nouveaux interiors; it serves various functions and, among other things, houses the Smetana concert hall. It is situated on the Square of the Republic, next to the Powder Gate and opposite the House U Hybernů.
The obverse side of the coin features on the left half the inscription ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA, 200 Kč (CZECH REPUBLIC, 200 CZK), and on the right half a decorative effigy of a female head “Fidelity“ created by Alfons Mucha for the decoration of the Mayor’s lounge in the Municipal House.
The reverse side of the coin features the front of the Municipal House with the main entrance and a cupola, whereas the legend on the left half reads „Otevření Obecního domu v Praze 1912 – 2012“ (Opening of the Municipal House in Prague 1912 – 2012).

Each coin is delivered with a catalogue card featuring description of the coin and its three-dimensional depiction.
