This silver coin pays tribute to the adored Marvel comics superhero known as Captain America throughout the world.

Steve Rogers was an ordinary American when World War II broke out. He tried to join the army, but was rejected because of physical weakness. However, he did not give up. He volunteered for a secret military experiment to serve his country. The experimental serum then turned the frail young man into an invincible super-soldier, who adopted the pseudonym Captain America, donned the iconic costume, and set out to fight the Nazis. He triumphed on the battlefield with superhuman strength, speed, endurance and an indestructible shield. But the respect of his fellow soldiers and opponents was also secured by the ideals he embodied - freedom, equality, justice. For many years it was assumed that he died at the very end of the war, but he rose from the dead decades later. He did not recognize the world he awoke to, however, he vowed to continue to protect it from evil. He leads a team of superheroes known as the Avengers into battle…

The reverse side of the coin presents Captain America in battle pose. He holds the trusty shield in vibrant colors in his right hand. The obverse side is then dedicated to the necessary elements of the issuer, which is the island of Niue. This means the national emblem, the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2023. The coin, which is issued with official license from Marvel, is the work of the New Zealand Mint.
