Product description

The silver bullion coin featuring the goddess Durga is the motif for the year 2025.

The name Durga can be translated as unconquerable or invincible, which perfectly captures the essence of this goddess. In Hindu mythology, she is the personification of strength, courage, and justice in the form of a warrior who fearlessly stands against the forces of darkness. Her fight against demons symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and spiritual power over ignorance. However, Durga is not only a goddess of destruction—she is also a motherly protector who cares for the world with love, compassion, and wisdom. She embodies the feminine principle in its entirety—not only combative and protective, but also nurturing and creative. She is thus an archetype of a woman who combines wildness with gentleness, strength with care and determination with wisdom.

Durga is usually depicted with four pairs of hands, in which she holds various attributes – mainly weapons, but also a sacred lotus flower. Her faithful companion is a tiger, on which she rides into battle. All of this can be found in the high relief on the reverse side of the coin. The composition is supplemented with rich floral decoration, which also dominates the obverse side. As the coin is issued with a foreign license from the state of Cameroon, its obverse side bears the state emblem, the year 2025, and the nominal value of 2000 FRANCS CFA (XAF). The dominant motifs of the relief are gold-plated for a contrasting effect.

The bullion coin, whose motif changes every year, is the work of Le Grand Mint.
