Silver coin 30g Yuan Panda: Spring

Chinese Panda coins are issued in a range of variants. You can also find collector’s items amongst the investment coins. One of these is the silver coin featuring a spring motif from a mini-series dedicated to the four seasons.

Pandas, unlike other bears, do not hibernate, but although spring is not a time for them to wake up and put on weight, a significant change does occur in their lives. Whilst they are solitary at other times of the year, in spring they seek out mates – as this is the breeding season. Males do not have much time, however, females are fertile only once a year and their oestrus lasts a maximum of three days. Mating must take place at just the right moment, but if successful, a few months later – most often between August and September - one or two cubs are born…

Two panda cubs, playing in a blossoming bamboo forest, can be seen on the coloured reverse side of the coin. The nominal value is 10 元 (CNY). The obverse side features the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, surrounded by the inscription 中华人民共和国 (People’s Republic of China) and the year of issue 2026.

The mintage is limited to just 500 pieces.
