Product description

"I really appreciate it. All the more to be in the series together with Jan Kodeš, who is not only a tennis but also a personal hero," says Martina Navrátilová, the best tennis player of all time, about the cycle of silver coins of the Czech Mint called "Czech tennis legends."

Jan Kodeš dedicated all his life to sport and tried to do his best for Czech tennis as a tennis player on the court and as an official. He has dominated the Czechoslovak ranking for twelve years as a multiple champion of the republic. He was awarded a prize "For Merit and Construction", together with "Fair play" of the Czech Olympic Committee and Emil Zatopek´s award "Sport Legend" of the Czech Republic. However, his glory far exceeded the boundaries of his homeland and the name Jan Kodeš will be written in the history of Davis Cup, US Open, French Open, Italian Open and the most prestigious tennis tournament in Wimbledon, where he won in 1973. Jan Kodeš also received the prestigious international ITF prizes for "Services in the Game" and USTA "Johnston Trophy" for contribution to world tennis. Apart from that he is a member of the "International Tennis Hall of Fame".

This sports coin was designed by an expert medal and portrait maker MgA. Martin Dašek. On the obverse side there is a portrait of Jan Kodeš, who triumphantly holds the Wimbledon Cup. It is surrounded by a copy composed of English text "CZECH TENNIS LEGEND JAN KODES" and the selection of his greatest tennis triumphs. The coins of the Czech Mint are licensed by a foreign publisher, which is the state of Samoa. Therefore its obverse side bears the necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the profile and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (WST) and the year of the issue 2018. The composition of the obverse side is closed with the inscription "WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS".

The silver coin includes a special Czech-English certificate of authenticity which summarizes the professional sports course of Jan Kodeš. Along with four other Czech tennis legends, you can put it in a collector's box which you can find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
