Human body
The first silver coin of the Czech Mint from the new series entitled Human Body is dedicated to the muscular system - specifically the muscles of the head.
The musculoskeletal system enables the organism to move actively in the surrounding environment. Its subsystem is the muscular system, which ensures the controlled production of mechanical energy. Some muscles can be controlled by will, others do their work automatically. Muscles have the ability to contract and are responsible for walking, digestive tract movements and heartbeat. The human body contains over 600 of them . There are 43 muscles in the face, but the number varies from person to person and many are missing in some people. Facial expression is one of the most important means of non-verbal communication. Using the face, a person can express 21 different emotions, each using a different combination of facial muscles.
The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of medal maker Jan Štekel, DiS., bears a cross-section of a human face. The exposed skin gives prominence to the intertwining muscles, which are coloured for a contrasting effect . The composition is supplemented with the Latin inscription MUSCULI CAPITIS (head muscles). On the obverse side, which is common to the whole cycle, you will find a double helix of DNA. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2025.
All twelve anatomical coins from the Human Body series can be saved in a collector's book, which you can also find in the Czech Mint's offer.
