Each sophisticated collection will welcome a nostalgic addition and the Czech Mint has prepared exactly that for all numismatists - a series of three silver Smart coins 1 NZD with the name, that says it all - Spejbl and Hurvínek. The first coin can not belong to anybody else than a fresh nonagenarian Hurvínek and his loyal furry friend Žeryk. On the second on will appear Spejbl and the third one will be dedicated to Mánička and her granny Kateřina.
Hurvínek was born on May 2nd, 1926 in the workshop of the famous puppeteer Gustav Nosek. The likeable boy in wooden shoes, with huge ears, who constantly rolled his eyes, spoke to the audience at first with the voice of Josef Skupa, then later Miloš Kirschner, and now Martin Klásek. A little rascal, bursting with wit, along with his preoccupied father Spejbl experienced lots of funny stories on the stage and television screens. Accompanied by the typical barking of the dog Žeryk, revived by Gustav Nosek in 1930, and initially even lent him his voice. Later, he was replaced by František Flajšhanz, Miroslav Černý and now Žeryk "speaks" with a voice of Miroslav Polák.
The inseparable urchin duo dominates the reverse of the silver coin, which has proposed the talented medaillist Irena Hradecká, DiS. The effigies of both puppets she completed with an inscription HURVÍNEK and ŽERYK. The obverse includes the necessary attributes of the issuer, the year of the issue 2016 and the nominal 5 DOLLARS. The coin is an official mintage, which comes with the blessing of the director of the Theatre of Spejbl and Hurvínek, Helena Štáchová.
