Product description

The exceptional Three Emperors Coins collector mini-series by Czech Mint has just gained a unique addition – a 1 NZD silver coin depicting Charles IV., the most important King of Bohemia and Roman Emperor. The noble personality is greatly reflected in the exceptional quality of proof mintage, making the gorgeous coin perfect to take the premier position in your numismatic collection.

“Císař”, Czech for Emperor, is the ultimate ruler title and derives from the name of Gaius Julius Caesar. This title is replaced by the word Tzar in certain countries. The emperor’s title is associated with the Roman Empire and was first used by Octavianus, who is also known as Augustus (Noble). The demise of the Western Roman Empire brought a hiatus in the use of the emperor title, which remained in use only in the Byzantine Empire at the time. It was only renewed in Western Europe in 800 when it was bestowed on Charlemagne. The emperor’s title was initially associated with the idea of renewing the Roman Empire, but it later transcended this notion and became a symbol of power of the individual Cities, in particular in Eastern Europe. Charles IV. was nominated Emperor on 5 April 1355.

The reverse side of the 1 NZD Charles IV. proof silver coin offers an attractive relief portrayal of the Father of the Country, as he is also referred to, designed by sculptor Vladimír Oppl. The composition is rounded off with the elements of coronation jewels, the Eagle of St. Wenceslas and the Bohemian Lion. The text “● MCCCL ● MMXV ● FUNDATOR ● CAROLVS IV ● IMPERATOR ● REX ●” along the perimeter completes the design. The obverse side contains a balanced composition of the attributes of the issuer, Niue Island. The charming artwork of pure silver celebrates the magnificent personality of Czech history and no collector should omit it. Since the edition is limited, only 1,000 of the quickest collectors will obtain the coin!
