Product description

The second mushroom to appear on the silver coin from the Czech Mint’s twelve-part mushroom series is the spruce boletus.

The spruce bolete is the quintessential example of a delicious edible mushroom. It is therefore highly sought after and prized among mushroom hunters. However, care must be taken not to confuse it with the inedible gall bolete, which has a repulsive bitter taste. They can be distinguished, for example, by tasting a small piece of the flesh. As the name suggests, the spruce bolete grows in spruce forests, where it is recognizable by its slightly felted or smooth brown cap on a bulbous stem.

The reverse side of the coin, designed by medalist Eva Prousková, DiS., features a colored depiction of two spruce boletes set against the undergrowth of a spruce forest. On the obverse, designed by medalist David Paulík and shared by the entire series, you will find wild nature teeming not only with mushrooms but also with plants and animals. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued under a foreign license from the island of Niue, the obverse side also bears its national coat of arms, the nminal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD), and the year of issue 2026.

You can store all twelve coins from the series titled Mushrooms in an elaborate collector’salbum, which is also available from the Czech Mint.
