The Jungle Book

The third silver coin from the Czech Mint's four-part miniseries inspired by Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book features the tiger Shere Khan.

The Bengal tiger Lungri
was born with a lame leg and perhaps that is why he grew up to be a bitter tyrant with a lust for power. To strike fear into the hearts of the animal inhabitants of the Indian jungle, he took the name Sher Khan - King of the Tigers - and began hunting the most feared prey of all - human. Once he decided to kill, no one could escape him. Only a human cub, protected by a wolf pack, managed to escape. The man-eating tiger vowed to correct his mistake and one day hunt down the boy named Mowgli. When force failed, the cunning Sher Khan used intrigue to break up the wolf pack. He convinced the young wolves to overthrow the old leader, Akela, and hand over their protégé to him. Then Mowgli showed that he was not only a wolf, but also a man, and drove the tiger away with fire. Finally, the two enemies clashed once more - in a fight to the death...

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of medal maker
Asamat Baltaev, DiS., is dominated by the majestic Sher Khan, who is pursued by Mowgli hiding in the treetops. The English inscription SHERE KHAN completes the composition. The obverse side of the coin presents an Indian jungle full of unruly monkeys. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, they also bear the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2022 on the obverse side.

Remember that you can store your complete collection of four coins in a special
collector's box that is also available in the offer of the Czech Mint.
