Crystal Coin

The special variant of the gift coin was created on the occasion of the EXPO 2020/2021 World Exhibition. The essence of the Czech pavilion in Dubai, of which the Czech Mint's exposition is an integral part, is transformation - the latest technologies turn air into water and a dry desert into a blooming garden. One of the symbols of this transformation is the rainbow, therefore, the crystal petals on the coin bear all its colours.

The unique
silver coins with cut Czech crystal are the result of a combination of traditional Jablonec crafts - the Czech Mint's medal making and Preciosa's glassmaking - that is unparalleled in the world. A popular addition to the Crystal Coin gift line is the Tree of Life motif, which we are releasing for the fourth time - this time with rainbow crystal leaves.

Trees give us oxygen to breathe, fruit to strengthen us, wood to warm and protect us, and last but not least, they are a delight to the eye and soul. Like a healthy tree, each of us should have
deep roots, a strong trunk and a rich crown. It is no wonder that trees are among the most revered symbols in the world and that significant trees can be found in most cultures around the world. For example, the Bible tells of the tree of knowledge, the apple tree, which was a symbol of undefiled humanity and whose forbidden fruit was tasted by Eve. Chinese mythology speaks, for a change, of the peach tree - its roots are guarded by a dragon, its crown is protected by a phoenix, and a single fruit, that ripens every three thousand years, ensures immortality. In the Nordic sagas there is the Yggdrasil - the ash tree that grows through all planes of existence and represents the universe itself. Whether their meaning is religious, philosophical or folkloric, all these trees are expressions of the ancient concept of the 'tree of life', which symbolises the unity and interconnectedness of all creation.

The medal maker
Petra Brodská, DiS., has dedicated the reverse side of the coin to the traditional depiction of the tree of life in a circular composition, with the tree's leaves formed by cut crystal stones. The Czech-English inscription bears STROM ŽIVOTA - TREE OF LIFE. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the license of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, their obverse side bears its necessary attributes - the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD), the year of issue 2021, the name of Elizabeth II and the portrait of the Queen surrounded by decorative branches.

The Tree of Life represents an
original gift for many occasions. The coin is issued in a limited edition of 2,000 pieces (part of which can be purchased by visitors to the Dubai EXPO and part offered to our domestic customers). The elegant packaging can be simply transformed into a practical frame for displaying it.
