Fairy tales are an inseparable part of a carefree childhood. They help the children form their view of the world and to distinguish good from evil. Animated stories splendidly develop fantasy in the most understandable way – through moving colour pictures. Czech animator and film director Zdeněk Smetana – a master in his field who won over fifty national and international awards for his work – knows how to communicate with small viewers through his characters. To express admiration for his art and skill Czech Mint dedicated to him and his characters an entire collector series titled Fairy Tale World.

The fourth medal in the series features two dog friends – Štaflík and Špagetka. They are featured on the obverse of the silver medal in proof quality. The reverse side is common for the entire series: a composition comprising characters from Zdeněk Smetana’s fairy tales and an inscription POHÁDKY ZDEŇKA SMETANY (Zdeněk Smetana’s Fairy Tales).

The mintage is limited to 1,000 pieces; it is therefore advisable to order a piece for your collection, or child, in time.
