Product description

The Look-out towers combine elements of an impressive history, original architecture and breathtaking natural scenery. That is why they have always been the most popular tourist destination. In recent years, however, also the numismatists have focused on the look-out towers - the reason being that they are a successful series of medals from the Czech Mint. The Silver coinage dedicated to the look-out tower Krásenský Hill is another collectible piece in high-quality proof.

A unique structure designed by the sculptor Willi Russ and devised by Fritz Hoffmann originated in the 1930s, when unemployment of Krasna residents, near Carlsbad, hit a record of 25%. Building the look-out tower has secured the livelihood of both the workers and the owners of lorries used to transport building materials. Although stone quarried directly in this spot has been used, and the village provided the timber for free, total costs reached almost 50 thousand Czech crowns. The audacious plan was marked by lack of finance from the start, delaying its implementation for some time. Thanks to the enthusiasm and tireless work of the promoters of the project, they managed to find the money, and the look-out tower was officially opened to the public on June 23, 1935.

The silver medal Krásenský Hill Look-out Tower proof is another gem from the workshop of a medalist and educator from Jablonec Joseph Oplíštil. He has grasped the topic with ingenuity. Both sides of this masterpiece of pure silver weighing one troy ounce are devoted to the fantastic building, whose creators were inspired by oriental architecture. The reverse, where the staircase seamlessly becomes a part of the name of the medals "KRASENSKY HILL LOOK-OUT TOWER", is adorned with the mark of the author and the Czech Mint. The face shows a nearby area of the look-out tower with the words protruding from nearby mountains  "PODHORNÍ HILL",  "THE GOVERNOR"  and "LYSINA".

This completely original scene is completed on the horizon with "ORE MOUNTAINS" and "KLÍNOVEC".  A numismatic gem, for which your collection is surely calling, is issued in a limited edition of 1000 pieces. Add to your collection of the look-out towers with another rare specimen!
