Product description
The Czech Mint's silver medal combines the magical power of the mysterious mandala with the rare moldavite.
The word mandala comes from ancient Indian Sanskrit and can be translated simply as circle. However, its meaning is not so simple – it represents infinity, perfection, balance and unity. Mandalas take the form of a circular pattern with a centre from which – or into which – symmetrically arranged shapes radiate. The power of each mandala is hidden in its centre, where everything begins and ends, which is why moldavite is set in the middle of the medal. This unique gemstone, which can only be found in the Czech Republic, is attributed with a number of magical properties – it concentrates cosmic energy, heals hidden illnesses, strengthens intuition and helps to keep a cool head. Although people associate mandalas primarily with the civilisations of South Asia, variations of them can be found across time, cultures and religious and philosophical systems – just look at the windows of European cathedrals or the dream catchers of American Indians. They are a tool for relaxation, meditation and self-discovery, but also for problem solving and wish fulfilment. Because we all need happiness and abundance in our lives, they have become the main motif of this gift mandala...
The obverse side of the medal, designed by medal maker Petra Brodská, DiS., features a relief engraved in minute detail, highlighted by patina and colouring. A cut moldavite is set in the centre of the ornament, which resembles a blooming flower. The reverse side of the medal also features plant motifs.
The medal is primarily an original talisman and gift for any occasion. The mintage is limited to only 300 pieces numbered on the edge.
