Product description

Liberec is one of the most important settlements in the Czech Republic. It is the fifth largest city, one of the 14 regional cities and also one of the 26 statutory cities, which is why it has its own issue from the set of kilogram silver medals of the Czech Mint.

Liberec is situated in northern Bohemia, near the German border, and it is no wonder that the history of this country was written by both Czechs and Germans. The original settlement in the country trail was established by local settlers along with cross-colonists in the thirteenth century and until 1945 the city was known primarily as Reichenberg. How did it come to its current Czech name? It was caused by an international language barrier. In the sixteenth century, Reichenberg was first called Rychberk and then Lychberk. In the seventeenth century, the name Libercum appeared, in the eighteenth Liberk and since 1845 the city was already called Liberec. Also, the famous Liberec natives have both Czech and German names - among them, for example, the King of Comics Vlasta Burian or the automobile legend Ferdinand Porsche. The stormy events of the twentieth century have altered the city's dual character, but it has remained an important metropolis - the center of the region, its administration, culture, sport, trade and education.

The hotel and transmission tower Jested is mostly connected with the Liberec region, however, there is a completely different architectural gem on the silver coin - the heart of the city in the form of the neo-Renaissance Town hall, which gives almost fairytale appearance to the triple majestic towers. Irena Hradecká, DiS. faithfully transferred the building onto the medal. Another medal maker Jakub Matouš, DiS., then prepared an incredibly detailed view of the city center from a bird's eye view, while Jan Petr, DiS. successfully connected these features.

The reverse side was made by MgA. Miroslav Schovanec, DiS. and belongs to the map of the Czech Republic with marked statutory cities.

The medal which appeals to investors, the proud Liberec residents and lovers of architecture, comes in only 24 numbered pieces!
