Product description
Pay together with us tribute to the Teacher of Nations, great patriot and one of the smartest Czechs ever! Thanks to the limited mintage (400 pcs), unique artistic design and popularity of the Czech TV competition show “The Smartest Czech“, the value of medals with the picture of John Amos Comenius (Jan Amos Komenský) will most likely grow. However, a medal is more than a smart investment!
A miniature made of pure silver refined with pure gold will most of all embellish your collection. The design was created by foremost Czech creative artists who helped shape the Czech currency – Vladimír Oppl and Oldřich Kulhánek, or rather his daughter Klára Melichová. The obverse side of the medal features the motif of the 200-crown banknote – the effigy of John Amos Comenius. The reverse symbolically depicts the handing over of knowledge and experience – a child’s hand touching the hand of an adult.
John Amos Comenius was not renowned merely as a progressive pedagogue and writer. People see in Comenius a patriot who warmly loved his nation and who experienced with them the suffering after the battle of White Mountain. His ideas encouraged Czechs in the gloomy period full of despair. Comenius, the last bishop of the Unity of the Brethren, was very pious. At the same time he was tolerant in his faith and strived for understanding among churches. His respect for humanism, knowledge and love of truth extends far beyond his time and carries an urgent message to all generations. He is also considered the father of modern education.
Silver has long been an undervalued commodity and its price is expected to go up. An investment into a piece of art made of silver therefore has a high potential of growth!
