Product description
On February 21st, the sun enters the sign of Pisces. According to the horoscope, 2015 should bring many new things to those born under this sign. The beginning of the year should be marked by success at work and with partners, and a new loving relationship may appear. In February however, they will not want to miss one more important thing- the issue of the silver-plated Old Town Astronomical Clock medal dedicated to their horoscope sign – Pisces. This is the latest medal of the Czech Mint adding to the popular series inspired by Prague’s world-famous Astronomical Clock, and the zodiac signs painted by renowned Czech artist Josef Mánes.
The silver-plated medal with the exceptional luster of proof quality is a small and affordable work of art which will undoubtedly please not only those who were born under the influence of one of the most sensitive signs of the zodiac - Pisces. As part of its Old Town Astronomical Clock series, each year the Czech Mint issues several medals comprising a comprehensive set of masterful numismatic pieces celebrating the renowned work of Josef Mánes. The signs already offered by the Czech Mint include Aquarius, Leo and Scorpio. In addition to Pisces, in 2015 you can also add Cancer, Sagittarius and Virgo.
Both the front and back sides of the silver-plated Pisces medal were designed by academic sculptor Daniela Kartáková, who also created previous issues of this series. On the obverse we find scenes relating to the month of February and the sign of Pisces, created by the artist based on the work of Josef Mánes. A likeness of the master with palette in hand is featured on the reverse, with a view of the Astrological Clock in the background. Because of their affordable price and high quality production, silver-plated medals are very popular among novice collectors and can become a great inspiration leading to large coin collections.
