Vodolen ducat

Odolena Voda is situated at the border of the elevated Prague plateau and Středolabská (Central-Elbe) plate 15 km north of Prague, 7.5 km east of Kralupy nad Vltavou and 8 km south-west of Neratovice. The older part of the small town spreads on a north sloping hill, the housing estates in the newer part were erected in the second half of the 20th century on a higher situated flatland. Part of town Dolínek is adjacent to it from the south-east, as well as the settlement of Čenkov.

The name Odolena Voda mirrored in all probability the abundance of water in this area (voda in Czech = water in English), or – another assumption is that the settlement may have been named after a certain Odolen, who had played an important role in its initial development.

The most interesting landmark of the town is the church of St. Clement built in the Barocco style by the design of famous builder K. I. Dienzenhofer. The interior of the building is beautifully decorated and it is definitely worth visiting – not only by church goers.

The nominal value of vodolský ducat is 60 crowns. The obverse side of the ducat features the church of St. Clement, and the reverse side the emblem of Odolena Voda.
