Product description
The fourth gold coin of the five-year cycle of the Czech National Bank, which is dedicated to the urban conservation areas of the Czech Republic, presents the beauty of Litoměřice. The mintage with a nominal value of 5000 CZK is minted in quality standard.
Litoměřice, which is situated in a fertile region at the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře rivers, is one of the oldest and most important Czech towns founded by the Přemyslid dynasty. The historic core of Litoměřice became a municipal conservation area in 1978, but the protection of the local building and historical heritage goes back much further. Thanks to this, a number of valuable buildings from different eras of our history have been preserved here. The town fortifications, several statues, a number of religious buildings and residential buildings - all of these were influenced by the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods, the Hussite period and the Dark Ages after the Battle of White Mountain. For example, the late Gothic house with a Renaissance reconstruction, known as Dům pod Bání or Dům Kalich (the House of the Chalice), is reminiscent not only of the communion under both kinds, but also of the local wine-growing tradition...
The winner of the art competition of the Czech National Bank is the medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. On the reverse side of the coin there is a collage of Litoměřice architecture, which consists of the Old Town Hall, the All Saints Church and other historical buildings, headed by the House of the Chalice. The decorated gables of Litoměřice houses can also be found on the obverse side of the coin.
You can store your collection of gold coins from the ten-piece cycle of the Czech National Bank in a wooden collector's case which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
