Human body

The second silver coin of the Czech Mint from the new series called Human Body is dedicated to the sensory system - specifically the eye.

The senses represent the body's ability to receive information from the environment. Humans have sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, but in addition to these, we also have a number of other receptors that allow us, for example, to perceive movement. We use most of our senses without realising it. Most of the information we consciously process is obtained with the help of sight. Photoreceptors in the human eye send signals to the brain about the slightest amount of light. Each eye is made up of about 130 million rods needed for black and white vision and 7 million cones that enable colour vision, and we are able to distinguish up to 10 million different colours.

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of medal maker Jan Štekel, DiS., bears a coloured cross-section of the human eye. The composition is completed by the Latin inscription OCULUS (eye). On the obverse side, which is common to the entire cycle, you will find a double-helix DNA. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2025.

All twelve anatomical coins from the Human Body series can be saved in a collector's book, which you can also find in the Czech Mint's offer.
