Product description
The silver commemorative medal of the Czech Mint to the birth of a child combines two historic Czech traditions - the custom of giving a newborn baby money made of precious metal for good luck and the historical minting of so-called thalers.
Did you know that thalers have spread from the Czech Republic to the whole world? Count Šlik began minting them in Jáchymov in the 16th century. Because the Czech lands were rich in silver, it had to replace gold coins, for the minting of which there was not enough precious metal in Europe. The names of many other coins and currencies, including world-famous dollars, were later derived from the name thaler. In history, thalers have been used primarily for business purposes, but have also played a representative role. This is performed by the thaler to this day – thaler to the birth of a child combines the material value of artistically processed pure metal with the personal value of a child, which is further supplemented with an engraved dedication.
The design of the thaler for 2021 was processed by the medal maler Petr Patka, DiS. The obverse side is dedicated to a pair of cute babies, which is supplemented with a small heart and an inscription THALER TO THE BIRTH OF A CHILD 2021. Around the perimeter of the reverse side, you will find beads in which zodiac signs are inscribed. This relief defines the space for text engraving, which can take the form of a personal message, name, date of birth,… - imagination has no limits. The maximum range of engraved text is limited to 4 lines of 15 characters, including spaces.
Each thaler is stored in an elegant gift packaging that can also be provided with handwritten dedication, but also information about the baby or his or her photographs.
