The fourth issue of the series of the Czech Mint, which is dedicated to the new Seven Wonders of the World, commemorates the Jordanian rock city of Petra. This special product will be especially appreciated by investors. The Jordanian desert is desolate, but also beautiful. The Shar Mountains, sculpted by water, sand and wind, which abound in a wealth of sandstone shapes and colours rises out of it. In the 4th century BC, it became a refuge for the Nabataean people, who built a city called Petra. They carved breathtaking cliff houses, temples, amphitheatres and tombs into the 300-metre-high rocks, but it was their ingenious irrigation system, which collected rainwater and water from distant mountain springs, that was most impressive. It made the city flourish. The exhausted caravans that had to cross the deadly Arabian Desert couldn't believe their eyes when they came across gardens, vineyards, fountains and even a huge swimming pool in the middle of the wasteland. It was the merchants carrying precious goods from the Orient and India who made Petra the shining jewel of the Middle East. The Nabateans shared in their business and grew rich from it. Incense burned on the altars of the ancient gods, but also pearls, ivory, silk and spices all flowed through Petra to the Mediterranean. The city prospered and thrived even under Roman rule. But as time passed, it began to decline. Merchants gradually found easier and quicker routes until Petra was finally forgotten. It was not rediscovered by the Western world until the 19th century and has faced unceasing interest ever since. This is evidenced by its inclusion in the list of the New Seven Wonders of the World...

The reverse side of each coin, which is the work of medal maker Ludmila Kracíková, DiS., presents the Al-Khazneh Temple. The building, better known as the Treasury, is supplemented with the inscription PETRA. On the obverse side, which is common to the entire cycle, there are all the new seven wonders of the world - the Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour, the Jordanian rock city of Petra, the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico, the Roman Colosseum, the Indian monument of the Taj Mahal, the Inca seat of Machu Picchu in Peru and the Great Wall of China. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign license of the island of Niue, they also bear its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2024 on the obverse side.

Ten identical coins are sealed in a special packaging. This is perforated so that it can be conveniently divided into ten parts if necessary.
