The new cycle of the Czech Mint called Tales of Czech Castles is full of myths, mysteries and fairy tales. The first commemorative medal made of pure gold recalls the legend of the White Lady at Rožmberk.

Perchta of Rozmberk was a gentle, noble and cheerful girl. She had no shortage of suitors, but unfortunately she could not choose and her father married her to John of Liechtenstein. He was noble and influential, but also cold and uncouth. His sisters, with whom he lived in the castle in Mikulov, were equally bad, and the unfortunate Perchta found no support even from her imperious mother-in-law. Her life became a living hell. She begged her father in vain for help, but he did nothing - he himself fueled Lichtenstein's enmity by not paying the promised dowry. "Deliver me from these evil men and you will have the merit of having delivered a soul from purgatory," the desperate girl wrote to her brother, but medieval manners did not allow a woman to leave her husband. No matter how inhumanly he treated her... Perchta's long suffering ended when her husband breathed his last. Before he died, he managed to ask for her forgiveness, but Perchta refused, so he cursed her. The freed noblewoman then returned to the Rosenbergs, but her peace was short-lived - she soon died. Her soul, however, did not go into eternity and began to appear in the Rosenberg castles, where she lovingly cared for the Rosenberg children. The ethereal phantom, who according to legend heralded happy or tragic events, entered history as the White Lady.

The obverse side of the commemorative medal, the work of academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová, presents the White Lady wandering through the castle corridors. The reverse side is dominated by a view of Rožmberk Castle, complete with the Rožmberk coat of arms.
