Sets of circulation coins
The Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, regularly issues sets of circulation coins with the motif of the birth of a child, and the year 2024 is no exception. The set is an original gift for anyone who has a newborn baby at home, not only for avid numismatists.
Many experts think we are living in an era that will see the end of physical payments. Some countries are already heading towards this scenario - for example, the Scandinavian countries, which record a dominant share of non-cash payments. In Sweden, paper and metallic money account for just one per cent of the total value of all payments, and it is likely that the northerners will say goodbye to banknotes and coins for good in the near future. So there is a real possibility that one day we will have only a credit card in our wallet and may pay with a mobile phone when shopping. Is not that a pity? After all, our circulating coins are among the world's best - for example, the five-crown coin of Jiří Harcuba, who is perceived in this country and abroad as an unrivalled master of the field, or the bi-metallic fifty-crown of Ladislav Kozák, which was declared the most beautiful circulating coin in the world in 1993. In short, we have a lot to be proud of, and maybe our children will one day be interested in what mum and dad used to pay with...
For this purpose, an annual set of circulation coins has been created - it contains all valid metal coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK and the year 2024, issued by the Czech National Bank and produced by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou. The six coins that have not been circulated are supplemented with a commemorative token designed by the medal maker Petr Patka, DiS. The relief of the token presents a playful depiction of a baby - in a room and in a cot.
The complete set is placed in a gift box where you can write a dedication and birth data about the baby.
